Amit Wahi has spent the last 20 years working in the marine industry. He joined Titan Salvage, UK in 2000 after obtaining his MS in International Shipping and spent the next several years in the field working on salvage and wreck removal projects all over the globe.
In 2004, Amit moved to Titan’s HQ in Florida where he worked on and developed competencies in business development, bid development, planning, scheduling and financial management of emergency response activities. He helped put together and manage the Company’s US government contracts which were used by agencies such as the US Coast Guard, FEMA, Army Corp of Engineers etc.
In 2007 he moved to Titan’s new Singapore office where he was an integral member of the team set up to build the Company’s business in the Far East. He served as Project Manager on several large salvage and Wreck Removal contracts while reporting to the General Manager.
By now back in the US, in 2011, he took on the position of Managing Director of the Marine Response Alliance. This was a joint venture company set up by Crowley Maritime, Marine Pollution Control, Titan Salvage, Marine Hazard Response and McAllister, Towing to provide turn-key compliance to ship owners who operated their ships within or to United States waters. During this time, he was the main point of contact with the MRA’s ship-owning clients and was required to travel worldwide to conduct drills, trainings and tabletop exercises. Responsibilities also included interacting with the US Coast Guard at all levels and on an ongoing basis to ensure the company’s response capabilities met or exceeded the relevant Federal Regulations (specifically the Salvage, Marine Fire-fighting regulations of the US Oil Pollution Act of 1990).
During his final few years at Titan, Amit was the company’s Commercial Manager responsible for putting together project costings and bids on a variety of commercial terms and for working with the bid development team to bring in new business. he was based in Florida but supported Titan’s projects and business development on a worldwide basis.
In 2013 Amit left Titan and moved to the Middle East where he joined a tug and barge owner/operator as their Commercial Director. He spent about four and a half years responsible for the commercial fixtures and charter parties for the company’s diverse fleet of vessels which included tugs and barges of various sizes, a sheerleg crane, DP2 cable layers, accommodation barges and a variety of offshore support vessels.
Amit has good in-depth knowledge of the many marine salvage and wreck removal agreements including customary support agreements and the usual time, bare and voyage charter parties employed in the marine industry.
Since 2018, Amit has been with Reed Maritime undertaking assignments on behalf of ship owners and their P&I Clubs and H&M Underwriters.
